First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This small study explores whether two non-invasive methods—thinking about future events (Episodic Future Thinking) and low-intensity focused ultrasound—can reduce pain and alcohol cravings in people with both chronic pain and alcohol use disorder. Ten adults will complete tasks and rate their pain before and after each intervention. The goal is to see if these approaches change how people value immediate rewards versus long-term health.
