First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tested whether using a special PET scan (FAZA) to find oxygen-starved, treatment-resistant cells in chordoma tumors could improve proton therapy. 64 adults with skull base, spine, or sacral chordomas received surgery followed by proton therapy guided by the scan. The goal was to see if this approach could better control the tumor at 3 years.
