Toxic legacy: study probes banned Pesticide's link to Sky-High prostate cancer rates

NCT ID NCT06773806

Summary

This study aims to understand if exposure to a banned pesticide called chlordecone increases the risk of prostate cancer. Researchers in Martinique will compare 3600 local men—some with prostate cancer, some with negative biopsies, and some with normal PSA levels—measuring pesticide levels in their blood and tissues. The goal is to clarify the environmental causes behind Martinique's prostate cancer rates, which are twice as high as mainland France's.
