First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at whether exposure to chlordecone, a pesticide used in the French West Indies until 1993, is linked to prostate cancer. Researchers will compare 3600 men in Martinique—half with prostate cancer, half without—measuring chlordecone levels in blood and through questionnaires. The goal is to understand if this environmental pollutant plays a role in the high prostate cancer rates seen in the region.
