Expanded access
Not a trial. This treatment can be requested outside a study, case by case, for people who qualify.
Expanded access (paused)
Not a trial. The treatment can normally be requested outside a study, but is unavailable right now.
Expanded access (ended)
Not a trial. The treatment could once be requested outside a study, but no longer can.

Summary

Researchers at Gødstrup Hospital are measuring balance and inner-ear function in healthy Danish children aged 6 months to 10 years. The goal is to establish normal reference values for tests like the video head impulse test, vestibular evoked myogenic potentials, and computerized dynamic posturography. With these norms, doctors could compare a child's results against age-matched peers to diagnose dizziness and balance disorders more precisely. The study enrolls about 90 children with normal hearing and no history of balance problems.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
balance and inner-ear function tests, including the video head impulse test, vestibular evoked myogenic potentials, and computerized dynamic posturography
What this could lead to
If researchers build reliable age-based reference values, doctors could diagnose balance and inner-ear problems in young children more accurately and earlier.
What could go wrong
This study only measures healthy children and does not test any treatment. The reference values may not fit children with different health backgrounds, and young children may struggle to complete some balance tests.
