Hidden danger for kids before surgery: study investigates low blood sugar risk

NCT ID NCT07259629

Summary

This study aims to better understand and define low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in children who must fast before elective surgery with general anesthesia. Researchers will measure blood sugar levels in over 6,500 children aged 1 month to 18 years to identify how common it is and which children are most at risk. The goal is to gather evidence to create clearer safety guidelines for fasting children before procedures.
