New scan strategy aims to stop heart attacks before they strike
NCT ID NCT06013722
Summary
This study is testing a new prevention strategy for people who go to the emergency room with chest pain but are not having a heart attack. Researchers want to see if using a special heart scan (calcium score) and a follow-up PET scan can find unstable plaque in the arteries, which can cause future heart attacks. People found to have this risky plaque will be offered preventive medication to try to stop a heart attack from happening.
