Scientists hunt for the cause of 'Chemobrain' in breast cancer survivors
NCT ID NCT05740787
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study aims to understand why some breast cancer patients experience 'chemobrain'—problems with memory, concentration, and thinking after chemotherapy. Researchers will track 50 patients before, during, and after chemo using brain scans, blood tests, and thinking tests. They hope to find links between brain inflammation and cognitive changes, which could lead to future treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could point toward ways to prevent or treat chemobrain in breast cancer patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study (50 people) that only looks for links—it does not test any treatment. Results may not apply to all patients.
