Chemo before surgery may boost bladder cancer outcomes

NCT ID NCT07492225

First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study compares two treatments for people with high-risk upper tract urothelial cancer (a type of urinary tract cancer). One group gets chemotherapy (gemcitabine and cisplatin) before surgery to remove the kidney and ureter, while the other group has surgery alone. The goal is to see if chemo shrinks the tumor more before surgery and improves survival. The trial involves 120 adults who are healthy enough for chemo and surgery.
