New One-Hand IV method could make emergency procedures safer

NCT ID NCT05534971

Summary

This study compares two techniques for placing central venous catheters (large IVs) in emergency patients. Researchers want to see if using a small peripheral IV catheter first leads to fewer attempts, fewer complications, and faster placement than the standard needle method. The study involves 160 adult patients in the emergency department who need this type of IV line.
