Immunotherapy plus chemo aims to extend lives in tough lung cancer
NCT ID NCT07418931
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether adding the immunotherapy drug cemiplimab to standard chemotherapy helps people with advanced squamous non-small cell lung cancer live longer. About 108 people who have not had prior treatment will receive the combination. The study is not yet recruiting and will measure survival at one year.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
cemiplimab (an immunotherapy drug) plus chemotherapy (paclitaxel, carboplatin, cisplatin, or gemcitabine)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new treatment option that improves survival for people with advanced squamous lung cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (108 people) with no results yet. The combination may not work better than standard care, and side effects from chemo and immunotherapy can be serious.
