Radiation boost tested in fight against advanced skin cancer

NCT ID NCT01319565

Summary

This study tested a personalized cell therapy for metastatic melanoma, a serious skin cancer. Researchers compared the standard treatment—using a patient's own tumor-fighting white blood cells after chemotherapy—to the same treatment with added total body radiation. The goal was to see if the radiation improved the chances of the cancer shrinking or disappearing completely in 102 adult participants.
