Can two cancer pills keep breast cancer from returning?
NCT ID NCT07180056
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is looking at whether taking a CDK4/6 inhibitor (either abemaciclib or ribociclib) after surgery can help prevent breast cancer from coming back in people with HR+/HER2- breast cancer. The researchers will follow 229 participants to see how long they stay cancer-free and what side effects occur. This is a real-world study, meaning it observes routine medical care rather than a controlled experiment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CDK4/6 inhibitors (abemaciclib or ribociclib)
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could confirm that adding CDK4/6 inhibitors after surgery helps keep HR+/HER2- breast cancer from coming back.
What could go wrong
This is an observational real-world study, not a randomized controlled trial, so results may be less definitive. Side effects from these drugs can be significant, and not all patients may benefit.
