First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tested a brief cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) program to help older adults (55 and older) reduce or stop taking benzodiazepines, which are often used for anxiety or sleep problems. Seventeen participants received the therapy and were followed to see if they could lower their dose and manage symptoms without medication. The goal was to see if the approach was practical and helpful.
