First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-phase study tests whether applying cannabidiol (CBD) with silicone ointment helps scars heal better after paramedian forehead flap surgery. Twenty-two adults will have half their scar treated with CBD plus silicone and the other half with silicone alone. Researchers will compare healing over 7 months using photos and scar rating scales.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

cannabidiol (CBD) with silicone ointment

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple way to improve scar appearance after reconstructive surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small trial with only 22 people. CBD may not improve scarring more than silicone alone, and results may not apply to other types of scars.
