New drug combo could stop second strokes in High-Risk patients

NCT ID NCT07468448

First seen Mar 29, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether a combination of two blood thinners (rivaroxaban and aspirin) works better than the standard two-drug combo (clopidogrel and aspirin) to prevent another stroke in people who have had a stroke due to narrowed arteries inside the brain. About 1,172 adults over 40 who had a stroke or high-risk mini-stroke within the last 30 days will take one of the two combos for 90 days, then continue with just aspirin. The goal is to see which combo is safer and more effective at stopping future strokes.
