Which catheter is safer before prostate surgery? new study aims to find out.

NCT ID NCT07555964

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026

Summary

This study compares two methods of draining urine in men who have trouble urinating before prostate surgery: a tube left in place (indwelling catheter) versus a tube inserted by the patient several times a day (clean intermittent self-catheterization). The goal is to see which method leads to fewer infections. About 106 men over 50 with an enlarged prostate will take part.
