Ring of hope: new study aims to sharpen vision for RP patients after cataract surgery

NCT ID NCT07126470

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looks at whether placing a small support ring (capsular tension ring) during cataract surgery helps keep the artificial lens more stable in people who also have retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Each of the 88 participants will get the ring in one eye only, so the other eye serves as a comparison. Researchers will measure lens position, vision sharpness, and any complications after surgery.
