New 'Carrot' bone technique could improve dental implants
NCT ID NCT07670559
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new method called the Carrot Technique for rebuilding the jawbone before placing dental implants in the front upper teeth. It uses a small piece of the patient's own bone to widen the ridge, compared to the standard approach using artificial bone and a membrane. Twenty adults with missing teeth and moderate bone loss will be followed for one year to see which method works better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Carrot Technique (autogenous bone core) and Guided Bone Regeneration (bone substitute and collagen membrane)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a simpler, effective method for rebuilding jawbone to support dental implants, potentially reducing the need for synthetic materials.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The Carrot Technique is new and may not outperform standard methods.
