Doctors track tiny patients on new kidney support device

NCT ID NCT04608149

Summary

This study is collecting real-world information on how well the Carpediem system works for critically ill infants and small children with sudden kidney injury or severe fluid overload. Doctors at multiple U.S. hospitals will observe about 35 children (weighing 5.5 to 22 pounds) who receive this dialysis-like treatment as part of their standard care. The main goal is to gather data on survival, kidney recovery, and safety for up to 90 days after the children leave the hospital.
