Brain scan clues may predict who gets smarter after neck surgery

NCT ID NCT03068442

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looks at 45 adults having carotid artery surgery to see if special scans can predict who will have better thinking skills afterward. Researchers check for inflammation in the artery wall and brain, and link it to changes in memory and thinking. The goal is to learn which patients benefit most from surgery, not to test a new treatment.
