Could a new 'Super Bread' help fight disease?
NCT ID NCT06200272
Summary
This study tested whether adding carob pulp and wheat germ to whole-wheat bread could improve how the body handles sugar and boost its antioxidant defenses. Researchers compared the new bread to standard bread in 20 healthy young adults by measuring their blood sugar and antioxidant levels after eating. The goal was to see if this enriched bread could be a healthier food option that might help prevent chronic diseases like diabetes.
