Engineered immune cells take on childhood cancers in new trial

NCT ID NCT04715191

First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This early-phase trial tests a new experimental treatment called CARE T cells for children and young adults with certain solid tumors (like liver cancer or Wilms tumor) that have returned or not responded to standard therapy. The treatment involves taking a patient's own immune cells (T cells), adding new genes to help them recognize and attack cancer cells, and giving them back to the patient. The main goals are to find a safe dose and understand side effects.
