Surgery may boost confidence in rare lung disease patients

NCT ID NCT07272798

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how a surgery called pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) affects the self-confidence of people with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). Ten patients will fill out questionnaires about their confidence in managing their illness and communicating with doctors. Researchers will also measure how far they can walk in six minutes. The goal is to understand the psychological side of recovery and improve support programs.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Pulmonary Endarterectomy (PEA) surgery
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better support programs that help patients feel more confident and capable after surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a very small study (10 people) that only measures confidence and walking ability, not long-term health outcomes. Results may not apply to all patients.
