New hope for twin moms: drug may cut dangerous bleeding after childbirth

NCT ID NCT07401524

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests if carbetocin, a drug that helps the uterus contract, works better than standard oxytocin to prevent heavy bleeding after twin deliveries. Heavy bleeding is more common with twins and can cause serious health problems. About 120 pregnant people with twins will be randomly assigned to receive either carbetocin or oxytocin after delivery, and their blood loss will be measured.
