Scientists test revolutionary immune cell therapy for debilitating muscle disease
NCT ID NCT06626919
Summary
This is an early-stage safety study testing a new type of treatment called anito-cel for adults with generalized myasthenia gravis, a chronic autoimmune disease that causes severe muscle weakness. The therapy involves collecting a patient's own immune cells, genetically modifying them to target a specific protein (BCMA) involved in the disease, and infusing them back. The main goals are to find a safe dose and see if this one-time treatment can reduce disease symptoms and improve daily function.
