New CAR-T therapy targets tough lymphoma in early trial
NCT ID NCT05784441
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-phase trial is testing a new treatment called JNJ-90009530, a type of CAR-T cell therapy that targets a protein called CD20 on lymphoma cells. The study includes 21 adults with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma who have already tried other treatments. The main goals are to find a safe dose and see if the therapy can shrink tumors.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
JNJ-90009530 (a CAR-T cell therapy targeting CD20)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new treatment option for patients with hard-to-treat lymphoma who have run out of standard therapies.
What could go wrong
This is a very early (phase 1b) and small (21 participants) study focused on safety and dosing. It may not lead to a widely available treatment, and CAR-T therapies carry risks like severe immune reactions.
