New engineered immune cell therapy enters human testing for tough digestive cancers

Summary

This is an early-stage study testing the safety and optimal dose of a new treatment called LB1908, a type of CAR-T cell therapy, for adults with advanced cancers of the stomach, esophagus, or pancreas. The therapy involves collecting a patient's own immune cells, engineering them in a lab to target a specific protein (CLDN18.2) found on these cancer cells, and then infusing them back into the patient. The study will first find a safe dose and then see if the treatment shows early signs of helping control these difficult-to-treat cancers.
