Scientists supercharge Patient's own cells to hunt childhood cancers
NCT ID NCT01953900
Summary
This early-stage study is testing a new combination treatment for children and young adults with advanced osteosarcoma or neuroblastoma that has come back or hasn't responded to standard therapies. Doctors take a patient's own immune cells, genetically modify them to better recognize and attack cancer, and infuse them back along with a chickenpox vaccine. The main goals are to find a safe dose, check for side effects, and see if this approach can help control these difficult cancers.
