Engineered immune cells take aim at rare blood cancer
NCT ID NCT04083495
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new approach for people with peripheral T-cell lymphoma that has come back or not responded to standard treatments. Researchers take a patient's own immune T-cells, modify them in the lab to recognize and attack cancer cells carrying the CD30 protein, and infuse them back. Before the infusion, patients receive chemotherapy to prepare their bodies. The goal is to see if this treatment is safe and can help control the cancer.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CD30-targeting CAR T-cells (ATLCAR.CD30) plus chemotherapy (bendamustine, fludarabine, cyclophosphamide)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with hard-to-treat peripheral T-cell lymphoma, potentially improving disease control and survival.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (20 participants) focused on safety and feasibility. The treatment may not work for everyone and carries risks like cytokine release syndrome, infection, and nerve problems.
