Shoulder surgery showdown: does capsule repair cut arthritis risk?

NCT ID NCT05978362

First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether repairing the shoulder capsule during a common stabilization surgery (Latarjet) can lower the chance of developing arthritis later. About 86 adults with unstable shoulders will be randomly assigned to get capsule repair or not, and then followed for up to 10 years with X-rays. The main goal is to see if the repair group has less arthritis over time.
