Hot pepper patch tested for stubborn tailbone pain

NCT ID NCT06023706

Summary

This study is testing whether a high-concentration capsaicin (the compound that makes chili peppers hot) skin patch can relieve chronic pain at the tailbone (coccygodynia). It will involve 188 adults in France who have had this pain for over 3 months and have not gotten enough relief from standard treatments like cushions or anti-inflammatory drugs. Participants will wear either the active patch or a placebo patch for one hour, and researchers will track their pain levels and quality of life for five months to see if the treatment helps.
