Fingertip camera could speed up diagnosis of hidden autoimmune diseases

NCT ID NCT06399822

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a quick, painless test called capillaroscopy (examining tiny blood vessels at the fingernails) can help doctors diagnose specific connective tissue diseases sooner in people with an unclear autoimmune condition. About 40 adults with undifferentiated connective tissue disease (UCTD) will be randomly assigned to get capillaroscopy or usual care. The goal is to see if the test leads to a clearer diagnosis within six months.
