Nailfold camera test may speed up diagnosis of hidden autoimmune diseases

NCT ID NCT06399822

First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a quick, painless test called capillaroscopy (examining tiny blood vessels at the base of the fingernails) can help doctors diagnose specific connective tissue diseases faster in people with an unclear autoimmune condition. About 40 adults with undifferentiated connective tissue disease (UCTD) will be randomly assigned to receive either usual care or usual care plus capillaroscopy. The goal is to see if the test helps more patients get a clear diagnosis within six months.
