Nailfold camera may unlock hidden clues in mysterious lung disease

NCT ID NCT07283081

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a nailfold capillaroscopy (a quick, painless microscope exam of tiny blood vessels at the base of fingernails) to standard care helps doctors diagnose connective tissue disease sooner in people newly diagnosed with interstitial lung disease. About 48 adults will be followed for three months to see if the test increases the number of correct diagnoses, potentially leading to faster, more appropriate treatment.
