Fingertip camera could cut months off lung diagnosis

NCT ID NCT07283081

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a simple microscope test of the tiny blood vessels at the base of your fingernails (capillaroscopy) can help doctors diagnose a type of lung disease called interstitial lung disease (PID) that is linked to connective tissue diseases (like lupus or scleroderma) more quickly. About 48 adults newly diagnosed with PID will get this extra test along with their usual care. The goal is to see if it helps identify the connective tissue cause within three months, so the right treatment can start sooner.
