Simple cap may speed up emergency bleeding treatment
NCT ID NCT07268365
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether attaching a small cap to the endoscope helps doctors find and treat the source of upper gastrointestinal bleeding more quickly. About 72 adults with severe bleeding will be randomly assigned to have an endoscopy with or without the cap. The main goal is to see if the cap reduces the time needed to stop the bleeding.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
endoscopic cap
What this could lead to
If it works, this simple cap could help doctors stop upper GI bleeding faster and more reliably, reducing complications and procedure time.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 72 participants. The cap may not improve outcomes significantly, and results may not apply to all bleeding cases.
