Donor milk may boost breastfeeding in fragile newborns

NCT ID NCT06315127

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving pasteurized donor milk (instead of formula) to newborns who need extra feeding helps mothers breastfeed longer and more exclusively. The babies are either born small, late preterm, or to mothers with diabetes. About 112 infants will be randomly assigned to receive donor milk or standard formula during their hospital stay, and researchers will check breastfeeding rates at 4 months.
