Scientists combine radiation with Immune-Boosting drugs to fight spreading cancers

NCT ID NCT04021043

Summary

This study tested whether combining targeted radiation with immune-boosting drugs could help control advanced cancers that had spread to the lungs or liver. Researchers worked with 51 patients to find safe doses and see if this approach could shrink tumors both where radiation was delivered and elsewhere in the body. The trial combined established immunotherapy drugs with an experimental one, aiming to help the body's immune system better recognize and attack cancer cells.
