40,000 cancer patients join quest for biomarkers

NCT ID NCT06851975

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study aims to build a large biobank of blood samples from 40,000 cancer patients to help identify biomarkers that can predict survival and response to treatment. Participants provide an extra 36ml of blood during routine blood draws. The samples will be used in future research projects to better understand which treatments work best for which patients.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this research could help identify biomarkers that predict how well cancer treatments work and how long patients might survive.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study that only collects samples for future research, so it won't directly benefit participants. The actual biomarker discoveries depend on later studies that may or may not succeed.
