Can a high-tech insulin system and low-carb diet fix a dangerous diabetes complication?
NCT ID NCT04614168
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at 24 people with long-standing type 1 diabetes who have lost their ability to produce glucagon, a hormone that raises blood sugar when it gets too low. Researchers wanted to see if using an automated insulin delivery system plus a low-carbohydrate diet for 8 months could restore this glucagon response. The goal was to understand whether tight blood sugar control can reduce the risk of severe low blood sugar episodes.
