Diabetes drugs tested as shield for kidneys during heart scans

NCT ID NCT07231939

Summary

This study looks at whether a common class of diabetes drugs, called SGLT2 inhibitors (flozins), can help prevent kidney injury caused by the contrast dye used during heart imaging and procedures. Researchers are reviewing the medical records of 4,000 patients who had these heart procedures to see if those taking the drugs had less kidney damage. The goal is to find a simple way to protect patients' kidneys during necessary medical tests.
