New combo therapy aims to save rectums from surgery

Summary

This study tests whether adding the immunotherapy drug camrelizumab to standard chemoradiation can make rectal cancer disappear completely in more patients. About 44 adults with locally advanced rectal cancer will receive the combination before any surgery. The goal is to increase the chance of avoiding permanent colostomy and preserving the rectum.
