Swallow a camera instead of a scope? new study tests easier colon cancer check

NCT ID NCT06475560

First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study is testing whether a camera capsule you swallow can be used as a first step to check for colorectal cancer, instead of a traditional colonoscopy. About 800 adults with symptoms will either get the capsule or a standard colonoscopy. The goal is to see if this approach is less uncomfortable, cheaper, and still catches cancer early, while reducing the number of unnecessary colonoscopies.
