First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study explores whether a safe, non-invasive technique called caloric vestibular stimulation (using warm or cool water in the ear) can temporarily improve how well people with obsessive-compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, or illness anxiety disorder recognize their own irrational beliefs. Researchers will measure changes in insight using a standard questionnaire. The study involves 16 adults aged 18-65 and aims to better understand how the brain processes self-awareness in these conditions.
