Caffeine for preemies: a tiny boost to breathe and leave the NICU faster?
NCT ID NCT07456670
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This pilot study tests whether giving caffeine to preterm infants (born 28-34 weeks) who need breathing support can help them leave the hospital sooner. About 62 babies will receive either caffeine or a placebo daily while on respiratory support. The study aims to see if a larger trial is possible and if caffeine improves breathing and shortens NICU stays.
