First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a dietary supplement called calcium alpha-ketoglutarate (CaAKG) can slow biological aging and improve physical performance and metabolic health in adults aged 40 to 75. Thirty participants will take either CaAKG or a placebo daily for 12 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in biological age using a blood-based test called PhenoAge, along with other health markers.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple dietary supplement that helps slow biological aging and improve physical health in middle-aged and older adults.
