NCT ID NCT07289867
First seen Dec 18, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested a supplement made from buriti, a fruit from the Brazilian cerrado, in 40 people aged 90 and older who were at risk of malnutrition. For 12 weeks, one group took the buriti supplement with vitamins and minerals, while the other took a vitamin-mineral capsule. The buriti group gained more weight, body mass, and handgrip strength, suggesting this fruit could be a helpful, natural way to improve nutrition in very old adults.
