First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether placing the numbing drug bupivacaine into the abdomen during open appendix surgery can reduce pain afterward. Sixty adults having open appendectomy will receive either bupivacaine or a saltwater placebo. Researchers will measure pain levels and how often extra painkillers are needed over the first 24 hours.
