Mindfulness, a smart ring, and a pod: a new bundle aims to shield healthcare workers from burnout
NCT ID NCT07720297
First seen Jul 22, 2026 · Last updated Jul 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether a combination of an 8-week mindfulness program, a wearable Oura ring that provides biofeedback and prompts, and on-site relaxation pods can reduce stress and burnout in healthcare workers. About 220 hospital employees in Ohio will be assigned to either the full bundle or the mindfulness program alone. Researchers will measure changes in perceived stress, burnout, resilience, and work engagement.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- a bundle of an 8-week mindfulness program, an Oura ring wearable, and worksite respite pods
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer hospitals a practical, multi-part tool to reduce burnout and boost resilience among healthcare workers.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early proof-of-concept study, so results may not be generalizable. The bundle's many components make it hard to tell which part is driving any effect.
