New breathing treatment tested to keep patients out of ICU

NCT ID NCT06008587

Summary

This study tested whether adding nasal high-flow oxygen therapy to standard treatment helps adults with sudden breathing failure and high carbon dioxide levels, but without dangerous blood acidity. Researchers compared patients receiving the extra oxygen therapy against those getting standard care alone. The goal was to see if this approach prevents worsening breathing problems and reduces hospital stays.
