New approach aims to keep breathing tubes out for obese ICU patients

NCT ID NCT05918575

Summary

This study tests whether using noninvasive breathing support right after removing a ventilator tube helps severely obese patients avoid needing the tube reinserted. Researchers will compare two different breathing support methods in 250 patients who have been on ventilators. The goal is to reduce complications like pneumonia and shorten hospital stays by preventing breathing failure after tube removal.
